What is the best way to ask for a discount at a hotel?

Is it plausible that if I ask a hotel manager for a discount they’ll give one to me? Should I be specific about how much of a discount I’m asking for?
I just love this hotel. I wrote very positive reviews for it on different traveling websites.

      The cheapest room is for some reason if you go thru their 800 number and ask what the hotel thru local.
