Schools for makeup artistry do not offer licenses. Makeup application is not regulated by most states (Florida is excluded). You may get a certification for makeup training or schooling.

@MaggieAnnieMUA some companies accept a cosmetology license but they may offer a discount at a lower rate seeing as how cosmetologist generally do hair and not makeup. I am referring to a license in Makeup Artistry which you can obtain for attending certain makeup schools that offer them. Not all companies accept licenses so be sure to read the things you need to be sure.

@chamirose I work mostly with makeup I’m not a cosmetologist so I don’t work with hair. Being an esthetician kind of goes hand and hand with makeup though so I work a good deal in that as well.
