In a domestic violence case, if the accused accepts a plea bargain does the victim still have to testify?

Situation: Boyfriend uses violence against his girlfriend causing bruises and sprained wrist. Prosecutors are going to charge him with a felony until the defense offers a plea deal: he will plead guilty if charged with a misdemeanor. If the prosecutor accepts this plea deal can the matter be settled out of court? Would the victim still need to testify in order to convict him of the misdemeanor?

      The victim may wish to testify once the accused enters plea of guilty the victim may wish to testify once the victim may wish to make statement at sentencing but that is entirely optional.
